FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A woman was arrested after a 6-year-old child with autism jumped out an apartment window and tested positive for cocaine in Fairmont, West Virginia.
Authorities charged Stevie Thibodeaux with child neglect creating risk of serious injury or death, WDTV-5 in West Virginia reported, citing the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Court documents obtained by WDTV stated that the child was taken to an area hospital and tested positive for cocaine while being evaluated.

Stevie Thibodeaux told officers she was asleep when the incident happened and showed police childproof locks on the doors, which she said kept the child from leaving, WDTV reported, citing court documents.
Officers performed a search of Thibodeaux’s apartment and found a white plate with a food stamp card, a device used to ingest drugs and a white powder.
Authorities told WDTV that Thibodeaux admitted to using cocaine and leaving the plate in her closet.

Thibodeaux is being held in a local jail, the news outlet reported.
