Vice President JD Vance’s family just got a little bigger. On Sunday, Second Lady Usha Vance gave birth to a baby boy.

The now-youngest member of the Vance family was named Alec Neel Vance, according to a post on the vice president’s Facebook page.

“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” the proud father wrote.

Vance described the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit as “a blessing,” adding, “We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”
The backstory:
Alec is the third son for the nation’s second family. Their two oldest children, 9-year-old Ewan and 6-year-old Vivek, are also boys, while the previous baby of the family, 4-year-old Mirabel, is their only daughter.

It’s been more than 150 years since a sitting vice president became a new father. According to the White House Historical Association, it last happened in 1870 when Schuyler Colfax and his second wife, Ellen Wade, had a son while Colfax was serving as vice president for President Ulysses S. Grant.
