Vitruvias Therapeutics, Inc., issued a recall on a single lot of its Thyroid Tablets. (FDA)
A thyroid medicine was recently recalled over fears that it could be superpotent and end up triggering other side effects. The Food and Drug Administration posted the drugmaker’s recall announcement on its website on Monday.

In the statement, Vitruvias Therapeutics, Inc., explained that testing showed that a single lot of its Thyroid Tablets, USP 30 mg had the potential to be superpotent. All of the recalled products, Lot 504950, were distributed between January 31, 2025, and September 30, 2025, and are due to expire on September 30, 2026.
Why you should care:
Taking superpotent tablets can lead to hyperthyroidism, the company explained. Symptoms of the condition include weight loss, muscle weakness, chest pain, and more. Elderly individuals, infants, and pregnant women have a higher risk of hyperthyroidism.
Vitruvias noted that no reports of adverse effects from the tablets have been made.

What you can do:
Patients who are currently taking tablets from that specific lot should not stop taking them without contacting their healthcare provider for other guidance or a replacement prescription, Vitruvias stated.
Patients who have had problems associated with taking the product should contact their healthcare provider. Additionally, adverse reactions or quality concerns should be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program.

Vitruvias is reaching out to wholesalers to ensure that they stop distributing the affected tablets and is arranging for them to be destroyed.
