WASHINGTON – Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., introduced a resolution on Tuesday to impeach Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

Massie read eight articles of impeachment against Hegseth on the House floor, claiming the defense secretary violated the War Powers Resolution of 1973 in Iran and for his role in the operation that led to former Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro’s capture and extradition.
What’s next:
The House has until Thursday to act on Massie’s proposal, according to an NPR report.

Massie accuses Hegseth of abusing power

Massie also claimed Hegseth abused his power after executing military strikes on ships in the United States accused of drug trafficking, investigating Sen. Mark Kelly, and strikes in Yemen, according to the Washington Post.

“In all of this, Secretary Hegseth abused the powers entrusted to him as Secretary of Defense by subordinating the constitutional limits on the use of military force and the laws governing the conduct of hostilities to his own policy objectives,” Massie said.
