More than 1,000 climbing ropes are being recalled because of a potential fall hazard that could result in serious injury or death, federal safety regulators announced.

Wichard Groupe North America has recalled approximately 1,050 Courant Spliced Kalimba Climbing Ropes, according to an announcement Thursday from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
What they’re saying:
“The spliced termination ends on the recalled ropes can fail unexpectedly, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fall hazard,” the commission said in its alert.
What you can do:
The recall covers 45-meter, 50-meter and 60-meter ropes in lollipop and bubblegum colors. It also includes any additional Kalimba ropes that were spliced under Courant splicing protocols before June 15, according to the commission.
The ropes are intended for tree climbing and pruning and are commonly used by arborists.

Wichard Groupe North America has received three reports of failed splices. No injuries associated with the recalled ropes have been reported.
The affected ropes were sold by Vertical Supply Group, Arbsession, RBI Corporation and retailers nationwide from January 2023 through June of this year. They were priced between $250 and $350.
Consumers are being urged to immediately stop using the recalled ropes and contact Wichard Groupe North America to receive a free replacement, with shipping included.
Two free replacement options are available to consumers. One is available immediately, while the other is expected to become available in mid-September.
