TULSA, Okla.A 50-year-old man was arrested after Tulsa police said he took a 1-year-old child from a shopping cart at a Walmart store.

Officers responded around 5:08 p.m. Sept. 8 to a reported kidnapping at the Walmart near 68th Street and Memorial Drive, according to the Tulsa Police Department.

Police said a woman was shopping with her two children when a man approached her and briefly talked about them. The man then allegedly removed her 1-year-old child from the shopping cart, placed the child in his own cart and began walking away.

The woman confronted the man and took her child back, police said. She then locked herself and her children inside a store bathroom while calling for help.

Walmart employees escorted the suspect from the store and called 911, according to police.

Officers later found a man matching the suspect’s description at a nearby bus stop. When officers asked about the alleged abduction, Marshall Dixon reportedly responded, “Yeah, I did that.”

Dixon was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a kidnapping charge.
