Kellogg is set to remove artificial colors from all its cereal products by the end of 2026.
Initially, the Michigan-based company said in August 2025 that it was planning to pull artificial dyes from its cereals by the end of 2027.
Kellogg told The Associated Press Thursday that it identified fruit- and vegetable-based juices that will give cereal brands like Froot Loops and Apple Jacks their distinctive colors.

Kellogg’s Chief Growth Officer Doug VanDeVelde said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press that “More and more consumers are looking for foods made with simple, recognizable ingredients and we are proud to meet those expectations even sooner than planned.”
Kellogg has faced mounting pressure to remove artificial ingredients from cereal products. The Associated Press reported in 2024 that people rallied outside of Kellog’s headquarters and delivered petitions with 400,000 signatures requesting that the organization remove artificial dyes and BHT, an artificial preservative.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has also ramped up the pressure on Kellogg as he’s called for food organizations to eliminate petroleum-based artificial dyes.
In August 2025, Kellog signed an agreement with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stating that it would remove toxic dyes from its cereals at the end of 2027.
Kellogg’s is well-known for its various breakfast cereals, like Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Rice Krispies, and Frosted Mini-Wheats.
