A recall has been issued for a thyroid medication that was sold nationwide, according to a Food and Drug Administration alert.

Major Rugby, a pharmaceutical company, issued a recall of its levothyroxine sodium tablets on July 13. 

FILE – Certain lots of levothyroxine sodium tablets, which is used as a thyroid medication, were recalled by the FDA. (Major Rugby)

The recall involves the following lots:

The pills that are involved in the recall are “subpotent,” which basically means they won’t deliver as much medication as intended.

The pills were shipped out on Jan. 22, 2025. 

What they’re saying:

The company noted that taking the recalled medication will likely not “cause adverse health effects.” 

What you can do:

Any customers who purchased this medication should return it, the company advised.
