Costco shoppers who buy the Kirkland Signature full-synthetic motor oil will now be paying more as the warehouse store has raised the price and placed limits on how much consumers can purchase.
By the numbers:
The 5-quart two-pack of Costco’s Kirkland Signature full-synthetic motor oil now costs around $58, a big hike from the approximately $30 it had been selling for just last year.
In addition to the higher price, Costco is limiting how much shoppers can buy at two boxes a week.

Costco has also placed purchase limits on 1-quart six-packs of Mobil 1 full-synthetic motor oil, which is listed at about $44, to five per membership.
Dig deeper:
Synthetic motor oil is heavily dependent on Group III base oils, which are mostly made from refining crude oil. The U.S. is estimated to import more than 40% of this oil from the Middle East, which has been dealing with disruptions to oil supplies since the start of the Iran war earlier this year.
Costco did not immediately reply to requests by The Associated Press and FOX Business for comment.
