It was 1982 and a crowd of men and women clad in wedding attire lined up to get married at the same time in Madison Square Garden.
It wasn’t a stunt, but a genuine marriage ceremony of 4,000 members of the Unification Church.

One couple told FOX that their common background working for the church made getting married quickly a non-issue.
What they’re saying:
“Reverend Moon recommended we marry,” the groom said. “We have a long, common background of working for the church. So our common background is the same. So when you have something in common, there’s no problem.”

In 1974, legendary funk musician Sly Stone got married to actress Kathy Silva on stage during one of his concerts.
Both Stone and Silva’s wedding ceremony, as well as the mass Unification Church ceremony, took place in the main area, according to USA Today.
