HOUSTON<\/strong> – <\/span>The first invest of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is being tracked along the Texas coast.<\/p>

The National Hurricane Center gave the designation of Invest 90L to a disturbance that they have been watching since last week. “Invest” is a term used to indicate an area being closely monitored for the potential of tropical development.<\/p>

The NHC has give Invest 90L a medium chance of development.<\/p>

“The system is forecast to move northeastward along the Texas coast and could emerge over the northwestern Gulf of America later today or tonight,” NHC forecasters wrote in their outlook. “Environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for the formation of a short-lived tropical storm late today or on Wednesday, especially if the system moves far enough offshore.”<\/p>

If Invest 90L becomes a tropical storm, it would be called the first name on the list of 2026 Atlantic storm names \u2013 Arthur.<\/p>
