Pork King Good has voluntarily recalled specific sour cream & onion pork rind and seasoning products, after a supplier notified the company of a potential Salmonella contamination issue tied to milk powder used in its seasoning blend.<\/p>

The recall was published by the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday.<\/p>

The recalled products are 1.75 ounce and 7 ounce bags of Sour Cream & Onion Pork Rinds and 3 ounce bottles of Sour Cream & Onion Seasoning. You can see the\u00a0lot numbers and best-by dates here<\/u>.<\/p>

The products were found online on the company\u2019s website, Amazon, Walmart and Netrition.\u00a0<\/p>

The company said no illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled products.\u00a0<\/p>

Pork King Good also noted that its own internal testing has not identified contamination in finished goods currently on the market.<\/p>

What they’re saying:<\/p>

“We have identified all affected pork rinds and seasoning bottles produced with the impacted ingredient,” Pork King Good said. “We are working with our retail partners to ensure any product in the field is destroyed or returned.”\u00a0<\/p>

The company said it has notified the USDA and is working closely with them, while also conducting independent third-party lab testing on finished goods.<\/p>

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may cause our customers and retail partners. The trust you place in Pork King Good means everything to us, and we are committed to making this right,” the company continued.<\/p>

Consumers can return recalled products for refund<\/h2>

What’s next:<\/p>

Consumers who have purchased one of the affected products should not consume it and may return it to the place of purchase for a refund, or contact the company directly at recall@porkkinggood.com.<\/p>

Recall follows other notices involving milk powder<\/h2>

The backstory:<\/p>

According to the company, the recall was initiated after California Dairies, Inc.<\/u> issued its own recall involving milk powder ingredients that may have been contaminated with Salmonella. The affected milk powder was used in Pork King Good\u2019s Sour Cream & Onion seasoning products.<\/p>

This news comes after contaminated dry milk powder has led to other recalls of products over salmonella concerns.\u00a0<\/p>

On Tuesday, John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. announced they were recalling several snack mixes and trail mixes that were seasoned, in part, with the dry milk powder.\u00a0<\/p>

Dig deeper:<\/p>

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness and fever called Salmonellosis.<\/p>

Most people infected with Salmonella experience diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps.<\/p>

Symptoms usually start 6 hours to 6 days after swallowing the bacteria, and most people recover without treatment after 4 to 7 days.<\/p>

Some people \u2013 especially children younger than 5, adults 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems \u2013 may experience more severe illnesses that require medical treatment or hospitalization.<\/p>

Severe symptoms include diarrhea and a fever higher than 102\u00b0F, diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving, bloody diarrhea, so much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down, signs of dehydration such as not peeing much, dry mouth and throat, and feeling dizzy when standing.<\/p>
