The medical examiner\u2019s office has officially confirmed how the River Oaks couple who owns Houston restaurant Traveler\u2019s Table and their two children died.<\/p>

Cause of death confirmed<\/h2>

What’s new:<\/p>

According to the medical examiner\u2019s office, Matthew Mitchell\u2019s death was ruled a suicide.<\/p>

The deaths of 39-year-old Thy Mitchell, 8-year-old Maya Mitchell and 4-year-old Maxwell Mitchell were ruled homicides.<\/p>

The cause of death for all four family members was a gunshot wound to the head, according to the medical examiner’s office.<\/p>

Deadly River Oaks shooting<\/h2>

The backstory:<\/p>

The shooting was reported around 5:30 p.m. Monday at the family\u2019s home on Kingston Street, near Avalon Place.<\/p>

Police previously said that the family\u2019s deaths were believed to be a murder-suicide, with Matthew shooting his wife and kids before shooting himself.<\/p>

Matthew and Thy were the owners of Montrose restaurants Traveler\u2019s Table and Traveler\u2019s Cart.<\/p>
