Shia LaBeouf pleaded guilty on Wednesday to three counts of simple battery and was sentenced to probation for punching people outside a New Orleans bar\u00a0during Mardi Gras in February.<\/u><\/p>

On the night of the assault, a shirtless LaBeouf, 39, was seen in video obtained by police, shoving people to the ground and hitting another person in the face.\u00a0<\/p>

Jeffrey Damnit, a local entertainer whom police identified as Jeffrey Klein, and\u00a0others subdued LaBeouf\u00a0<\/u>and attempted to get him to vacate the area, but said he would not leave.\u00a0<\/p>

In a video recorded by Damnit and shared with The Associated Press, it showed LaBeouf looking at the camera and appearing to mouth a homophobic slur while police detained him. He continued to repeat the slur\u00a0throughout the arrest,\u00a0<\/u>the police report stated.<\/p>

“These f\u2013\u2013\u2013\u2013\u2013s put me in jail,” LaBeouf said, and then told police he’s Catholic, according to the report.<\/p>

“I didn\u2019t shove nobody, I never touched nobody,” LaBeouf told New Orleans police officers in the video recorded by Damnit.<\/p>

LaBeouf\u2019s sobriety and legal troubles<\/strong><\/h2>

The backstory:<\/p>

LaBeouf has been open about his journey with sobriety and how alcoholism led him to past bad behavior.<\/p>

In 2020, artist FKA twigs filed a lawsuit\u00a0<\/u>against LaBeouf, saying he sexually assaulted her and inflicted emotional distress. They settled the suit in 2025. LaBeouf denied the allegations.<\/p>

In 2017, LaBeouf was arrested in Georgia<\/u> for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.\u00a0<\/p>
