Artificial intelligence<\/u> is largely powered by data centers that field queries, store data and deploy information.\u00a0<\/p>

Massive amounts of electricity are needed for this execution, and\u00a0the growing demand for AI use<\/u> has been met with a data center construction boom.\u00a0<\/p>

Local perspective:<\/p>

Thirty-eight states have some form of a sales tax break for data centers,\u00a0according to the National Conference of State Legislatures<\/u>. The Associated Press says many of those tax breaks were approved several years ago when data centers were a small but growing part of the economy.<\/p>

But now, as the demand for data centers is increasing, it\u2019s being met with resistance from communities across the country.\u00a0<\/p>
