In the video, an 8-year-old boy who was out fishing with his family\u00a0 is seen being attacked by the beaver.<\/p>

When the child tried to run back up the bank and out of the water, the beaver pursued the boy and ended up biting the child on his thigh.\u00a0<\/p>

When the boy finally managed to get up, he threw the beaver back into the lake.\u00a0<\/p>

Local perspective:<\/p>

Several people had been bitten by the beaver and ended up testing positive for rabies, according to the Mahwah Township Health Department.<\/p>

What they’re saying:<\/p>

“Individuals who were bitten are currently receiving treatment. If you have had any contact with this animal, please notify the Mahwah Township Health Department immediately. You will need to be assessed by a doctor for medical treatment. Everyone is advised to avoid wildlife, as any warm-blooded animal can carry rabies,” the department said.\u00a0<\/p>
