TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas<\/strong> – <\/span>Police are investigating after a mass shooting in Travis County that began with an altercation inside a restaurant that spilled into the parking lot.<\/p>

The backstory:<\/p>

Police said the incident began at around 1:30 a.m. on May 6 at the Down South Cajun Eats restaurant on FM 1825 near Vision Drive and Pecan Street.<\/p>

The victims<\/h3>

Officers responded to the scene and found multiple people with gunshot wounds.\u00a0<\/p>

Five people were shot and all were taken to various local hospitals.<\/p>

Police say one person died and have identified him as 27-year-old Mykal Jones. He was pronounced dead at a Round Rock hospital at 2:13 a.m.<\/p>

Another person was in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition, per APD. Three others have non-life threatening injuries and are expected to be okay.<\/p>

What happened?<\/h3>

Police say an altercation started inside the restaurant which escalated into a shooting and then spilled out into the parking lot.\u00a0<\/p>

Multiple people pulled out weapons and started shooting, with shots fired inside and outside the restaurant.<\/p>

Police have released a cell phone video from someone who was inside the restaurant:<\/p>

This case is being investigated as Austin’s 22nd homicide of the year.<\/p>

What they’re saying:<\/p>

Chris Natho, who works nearby, says one of his delivery drivers couldn’t get to this store because of the crime scene.<\/p>

“I walk out, and I see CSI units and, like six cop cars,” he said. “I was like, oh my God, it’s just really crazy to find out about that, just so close to what I do every day, especially coming from a small town. I mean, this never happens.”<\/p>

Down South Cajjun Eats posted the following statement to social media:<\/p>

Police are asking anyone who was inside the restaurant this morning to come forward. Anyone with videos, photos or other potential evidence can submit materials here or by scanning the QR code below:<\/p>

Anyone with information is urged to contact Austin police at 512-974-TIPS.<\/p>

Tips can also be submitted through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers program online or by calling 512-472-8477.\u00a0<\/p>

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.<\/p>

The Austin Police Department says the suspects in the shooting fled the scene.<\/p>

Not too long after the shooting, APD received a call about another shooting in the 1500 block of East Howard Lane, which is about three miles away from the other shooting.<\/p>
