Planet Fitness, one of the largest operators of fitness centers, announced the return of its annual High School Summer Pass program.<\/p>

Planet Fitness summer pass program returns<\/h2>

According to the company, all high school summer pass participants will have access to Planet Fitness\u2019 complete range of strength equipment, including machines, cardio equipment and stretching space.<\/p>

Teens will also have access to free fitness training from certified fitness trainers, teen-specific workout plans, and the free Planet Fitness app featuring on-demand digital exercises.<\/p>

“At Planet Fitness, our mission is to break down the barriers to fitness, and the High School Summer Pass program is a key part of that,” Colleen Keating, the CEO of Planet Fitness, said in a statement. “Young people are increasingly prioritizing their mental and physical health and making fitness part of their daily lives. This program gives teens the unique opportunity to build lifelong healthy habits in a welcoming and non-intimidating environment during the important months when school is out.”<\/p>

How to get Planet Fitness summer pass<\/h2>

What you can do:<\/p>

Teens can visit\u00a0PlanetFitness.com\/SummerPass<\/u> to register for the program with club access beginning June 1 through August 31.<\/p>

Teens must work out at the location they sign up and are not permitted to use other locations. Participants can find their\u00a0nearest club here<\/u>.<\/p>

95% of teens said exercise helps them manage life\u2019s challenges.<\/h2>

Since launching the program in 2019, Planet Fitness said it has invested more than $460 million in waived membership dues to promote youth health and wellness for teens. Last year, the program reached a record 3.7 million teens and nearly 19 million gym visits.<\/p>

Planet Fitness also commissioned a nationwide study with 1,000 parents of teenagers and their respective teens, which found that nearly all teens (95%) report emotionally or mentally struggling. At the same time, almost all (95%) said exercise helped them manage life\u2019s challenges.<\/p>

More than half (52%) also said they\u2019re dealing with anxiety, and close to half (49%) said they struggle with a positive body image.<\/p>

Cost of gym memberships amid ongoing inflation<\/h2>

This perk for teens comes as gym membership prices continue to increase amid ongoing inflation.<\/p>

Average monthly fitness facility dues in the United States rose 9% in 2023 to $65 per month, but that increase did not seem to affect U.S. memberships, which reached an all-time high of 72.9 million, according to the 2024 U.S. Health & Fitness Consumer Report.<\/p>

According to RitFit, a gym membership usually costs about $10 to $300 dollars per month, depending on brand, city, amenities, and access level.\u00a0<\/p>

Last year, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to revitalize the Presidential Fitness Test<\/u> and the President\u2019s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition for American schoolchildren.<\/p>

The president\u2019s order in part “prioritizes and expands children\u2019s participation in youth sports and active play, promoting the physical, mental, and civic benefits of daily movement, exercise, and good nutrition,” a portion of the order stated, per White<\/u>House.gov<\/u>.<\/p>
