A dietary supplement marketed for sexual enhancement and sold nationwide was\u00a0officially recalled<\/u> a month after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)\u00a0issued a warning<\/u> about the dangers of taking it.<\/p>

Big picture view:<\/p>

On Monday, the FDA published the recall by the capsule\u2019s manufacturer, Best Supplements Best Prices, saying that the pills contain three undeclared drugs.<\/p>

Two of them listed in the recall are sildenafil and tadalafil, the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis, respectively. The other drug in question, flibanserin, is the active ingredient in Addyi and is meant to treat low sexual desire in women.\u00a0<\/p>

Why you should care:<\/p>

Sildenafil and tadalafil are designed to treat erectile dysfunction, but could interact with nitrates in other prescription drugs and lower blood pressure to dangerous levels, the FDA explained in its statement.\u00a0<\/p>

Flibanserin, the agency added, can cause drowsiness, sedation, and dangerously low blood pressure and fainting, especially when combined with alcohol.<\/p>

The backstory:<\/p>

The recalled dietary supplement, which was sold under the name WAP Sensual Enhancement, came in a bright red package that had its name printed in large, white letters. It was available online via Ebay.<\/p>

What you can do:<\/p>

Best Supplements Best Prices planned to contact people who purchased the product by email and is arranging to provide full refunds on the recalled items, according to the FDA. The agency stated those who still have some of the pills should not take them.<\/p>
