Customers of Fidelity Investments may be eligible for a payout after the company settled a $2.5 million lawsuit involving a 2024 data breach.\u00a0<\/p>

Before customers can receive a payout, the agreement must be approved by the court. A final approval hearing is scheduled for July 9.\u00a0<\/p>

How to file a claim<\/h2>

What you can do:<\/p>

Customers who were impacted by the breach can file a claim on the settlement website.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>

The deadline to file a claim is July 27.\u00a0<\/p>

Customers could be eligible to receive up to $5,000 from the settlement.\u00a0<\/p>

Fidelity data breach<\/h2>

Timeline:<\/p>

The data breach took place between August 17, 2024 and August 19, 2024.\u00a0<\/p>

A third party accessed customer names and other personal identifiers, including Social Security numbers and driver\u2019s licenses.\u00a0<\/p>

Fidelity was able to stop the unauthorized access on Aug. 19 after detecting the breach.<\/p>

By the numbers:<\/p>

Over 77,000 customers were impacted by the breach. An additional 86,000 customers whose financial accounts and routing numbers were compromised could also be eligible for a payout,\u00a0according to a USA Today report.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>
