A voluntary recall has been issued for a dog food brand that may be contaminated with salmonella.

Albright’s Raw Pet Food pulled the product out of an abundance of caution, the Food and Drug Administration said in a May 6 recall notice.

FDA officials added that salmonella can cause illness in pets that eat contaminated products and it can be transmitted to people. Pets infected with salmonella may show various symptoms, including lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. But some pets might now display these traits.

To date, there are no illnesses reported connected to the lots of dog food.

Albright’s Raw Pet Food recalled a lot of its Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced formula dog food.  These products are sold as frozen 1 lb. bricks in clear vacuum packaging which are distributed in 30 lb. cases. 

According to the Food and Drug Administration, the dog food was distributed to consumers across the country and to small groups of retailers in Massachusetts, California, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, New York, and by direct online sales.

What you can do:

Consumers who bought the dog food are being urged by the Food and Drug Administration not to feed it to their pets and throw it away. 

Additionally, owners of this product can request a refund by submitting a receipt and photos of the product to [email protected] along with information on place of purchase.
