A nationwide recall has been issued for thousands of bottles of blood pressure medication due to a manufacturing issue, according to an alert from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Inventia Healthcare Limited, which is based in India, initiated the voluntary recall of Chlorthalidone Tablets USP, 25 mg, on June 5.

By the numbers:

Approximately 11,460 bottles have been recalled, according to the FDA. 

The recall involves 100-count and 1000-count bottles that were distributed by Risiong Pharma Holdings, Inc., in New Jersey.

Why you should care:

The pills did not pass “dissolution specifications,” which basically means they don’t dissolve effectively when it enters the body.

The recalls involves the following bottles of medication: 

  • 100 tablet bottles: Batch # RISA24001
  • 1000 tablet bottles: Batch RISB24002

Both should have an expiration date of April 2027.
