15-year-old teen dead after walking into water in Montgomery County

What we know:

According to officials, they were called out to the area of Woodtrace and Highland after receiving a 911 call from friends of the of the 15-year-old saying he walked into the water. 

Officials said the 15-year-old disappeared and never resurfaced. 

Following the 911 call, officials said they immediately began a search of the area, with multiple law enforcement agencies involved. 

After an extensive search, officials said the 15-year-old was located using sonar technology.

The 15-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. 

Further investigation determined the 15-year-old and his friends were playing on 4-wheelers in a construction roadway, riding in the mud and in the water. 

Officials stated a death investigation has been opened as that is customary in this type of incident.

Authorities said there is no indication of foul play. 

What we don’t know:

Officials did not release the name of the 15-year-old. 

The investigation is ongoing.
