American singer and producer Oliver Tree was one of six people killed Sunday morning when two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and crashed, authorities said. 

He was 32 years old.

What we know:

Rio de Janeiro’s Military Fire Department said that one of the helicopters crashed in the parking lot of a car dealership, where several electric vehicles were parked, which started a fire.

Police said Tree was on the list of passengers handed to aviation authorities, though they hadn’t been able to identify the bodies yet. Tree performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 4. He posted a video of him playing soccer in a Brazilian neighborhood on Instagram Saturday.

What we don’t know:

Officials said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision.

The backstory:

Tree was a singer, director and record producer known for songs including “Life Goes On” and “Miss You” with Robin Schulz, according to The Hollywood Reporter

He gained a following on Vine in 2016 with his alter ego “Turbo,” who wore oversized ‘80s clothing and had a signature bowl cut. He released his first hit song, “When I’m Down,” the same year and signed with Atlantic Records a year later.
