MIDLAND, Texas – An active shooter has been reported in Midland on Friday morning.
What we know:
According to Midland officials, the incident is unfolding near the corner of Industrial Avenue and Wall Street.
KMID/KPEJ, the FOX affiliate in the West Texas town, reported that the shooter was holed up in a building and that multiple shots have been fired.
According to a post on the city government’s Facbeook page, officers heard gunfire coming from a building when they arrived at the scene. Armored units have been deployed.
“Efforts to bring the standoff with the shooter to a safe resolution are ongoing,” officials wrote in the post.

A representative of the Midland County Sheriff’s Office said they didn’t have anyone who could speak with FOX Local at this time.
A spokesperson for the neighboring Ector County Sheriff’s Office said they could only confirm that they are assisting Midland police with an active-shooting situation.
What they’re saying:
“At this time, public safety personnel are actively responding, and we ask the public to avoid the area until further notice,” city officials wrote in a Facebook post.
