Dig deeper:

Alexander Price, 21, and two other males entered a Wawa located in Westfield on June 2 when they confronted a few teenagers who were already inside, according to an affidavit obtained by FOX.

One of the males who were with Price allegedly threw a protein/granola bar at one of the 17-year-old victim’s heads.

The victim then asked who threw the snack at his head to which Price and his acquaintances answered, “they have to find out who.”

The 17-year-old victim called Price “cute” before Price and the other males left the gas station, visibly upset at the comment, according to the affidavit.

The teenagers left the store and got into their own vehicle, but as they tried to leave, a truck with Price and the other two males pulled up from behind and blocked the car from leaving.

Price then proceeded to ask the teenagers if they “wanted to run thirties” or “fades,” which is slang for street fighting, the affidavit stated.

The victim claimed he then heard Price state he had “killed people over this” and pointed a gun in their direction. One of the victims also claimed he could see a green laser strike his eyes and face, which he said was from the gun.

Price eventually allowed the teenagers to leave but ended up following them. During the drive, one of the victims called police, who intervened and performed a felony traffic stop on Price’s vehicle.

The other side:

Price claimed the victims initially started the confrontation inside the gas station.

He wasn’t upset until one of the teens called him “cute,” the affidavit stated. Price then told the teens that he was a grown man, then proceeded to leave the gas station.

When asked by police if Price if guns were involved in the altercation, Price denied it. However, officers searched the vehicle that Price and his acquaintances were riding in and found a loaded 9mm handgun with a green laser under the driver’s side seat.

Officers also found marijuana and paraphernalia.

Security camera footage from inside the gas station was also reviewed by investigators and corroborated the victims’ account of events.

The backstory:

Price has a past criminal history and was on probation at the time of the incident.
