What to do if you forget an item in your Uber

What you can do:

To coincide with the anniversary, Uber announced a new in-app experience designed to simplify the process of recovering lost belongings.

The updated feature allows riders in select markets to request a dedicated Uber trip to have a recovered item returned directly to them.

After reporting a missing item through the app, riders receive a notification if their driver confirms the item has been found. Users can then request a return trip, select a delivery address, confirm the fare and track the driver’s journey in real time. A verification PIN is used upon delivery to confirm the return.

The enhanced lost-item recovery experience is currently available in California, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Georgia, Minnesota and Massachusetts. Uber said it plans to expand the feature nationwide by the end of the year.

Riders who misplace an item can also continue to contact their driver directly through the app to arrange a return.
