Nissan is recallingconnected to a software issue that can cause the dashboard to display a partial or completely blank screen that may increase the risk of a crash.

Ancan cause communication failure between the graphic controller and the automotive controller integrated circuits, which may result in problems with the screen, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated in a recall letter.

Nissan has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the screen issue with the affected SUVs, the NHTSA noted.

Certainwere recalled because of the potential blank screen issue. These SUVs were equipped with an affected combination meter display unit.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, theshow safety-related functions, and the driver may unknowingly operate the vehicle in an unsafe condition, increasing the risk of a crash. 

The agency added that there is no initial warning, and the driver will see a partially blank, blue, or fully blank combination meter screen. 

If I have the recalled Nissan SUV, what should I do?

What you can do:

Owners of the recalled Nissan Kicks can take them to their local dealership where technicians will be instructed to update the software on the vehicle’s combination meter.

 These repairs will be performed for free. Moreover, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting on July 1.
