President Donald Trump spoke optimistically about the progress of peace negotiations with Iran, telling reporters Wednesday afternoon that the U.S. has had “very good talks” with the country’s leadership over the previous 24 hours.

Trump stated that Iran’s leaders are looking to reach a deal; however, he went on to warn that the U.S. may start bombing the nation again if no agreement is reached.
Also on Wednesday, a U.S. fighter jet shot out the rudder of an Iranian tanker in the Gulf of Oman, U.S. Central Command reported. According to the military, the tanker had tried to breach its blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran reviewing US proposal
6:22 a.m. ET: A spokesman for Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, told state TV that Iran is still examining the latest proposal from the U.S. but “strongly rejected” a previous proposal that was reported.
The White House earlier sent a one-page memorandum to end the war, according to Axios.
“If they don’t agree, the bombing starts,” Trump said on social media, “and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before.”
