HOUSTON – An investigation continues after authorities executed a search warrant on a business in West Houston on Wednesday.

Police on scene of illegal gambling investigation in West Houston
What we know:
Officials said they are at the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Westerland Drive.
According to Houston police, over the past several months, authorities received complaints from people in the area that there was illegal gambling and other activity going on at a business.
The Midwest Differential Response Team was contacted. Officials said those officers deal with quality of life issues, such as illegal gambling and convenience stores operating without permits.
The Vice division was also contacted who sent in undercover investigators into the business several times and determined there was illegal gambling going on at the business.
A judge was contacted and authorities received the search warrant for the location, officials stated.

Authorities said due to the nature of the business, they usually lock the doors and have armed security. As a result, officials stated they had their SWAT team serve the warrant.
Approximately 80 to 90 people were in the club when the SWAT team entered the business.
Police stated four to five people were taken into custody.
Officials added Vice officers are conducting a follow-up investigation to see if there is any gambling paraphernalia or any money connected to gambling.
Police said there were no machines inside the business, it was gaming tables and card tables.

No injuries were reported in connection to the search warrant being served.
What we don’t know:
It’s unclear what the people taken into custody are being charged with.
