HOUSTON – An investigation is underway near the Houston Botanic Garden after METRO police shot a person armed with a knife.

What we know:
The incident was reported just before 11 a.m. Saturday near Park Place Boulevard and Findlay Street.
METRO officials say officers were called about a “suspicious person” holding a knife. A bus driver saw the person, refused to let the person on board, and called Bus Control.
A METRO supervisor and police officers were called to the scene.
During their interaction with the person, police opened fire, and the person was shot in the leg.

Officials say the person was given medical treatment at the scene before medics took them to a hospital.
No one else was injured.
The scene is currently blocked off as officials investigate.
