Generac Power Systems has expanded its recall for a brand of its pressure washers because the electronic start/stop button on the device could malfunction and self-start, creating a risk of severe injury or death because of carbon monoxide poisoning if the unit is in a confined space.
The Wisconsin-based company recalled 16,260 pressure washersafter they received six reports of the devices self-starting, but there were no injuries or property damage reported.

Consumer Product Safety Commission officials said in a May 14 recall letter that Generac Power Systems previously recalled 53,000 units on April 28, 2022.

The products were sold at home improvement and hardware stores online and across the country, including Home Depot, Amazon, and Menards between November 2021 and February 2026 in the price range of $500 and $590.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is informing consumers to immediately stop using the pressure washer and call Generac Power Systems to arrange an appointment for a free repair with your local dealer.
Furthermore, the devices can still be used with the battery removed by utilizing the pull-start option to start the unit, CPSC officials added.
