HOUSTON – A suspect and a security guard were hospitalized Friday night after a reported shootout between the two in Houston’s Chinatown area.

What we know:
The shooting was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Friday at a store off Bellaire Boulevard near Beltway 8.
Police believe a man and a woman brought a dog to the store, and a security guard told them the dog wasn’t allowed inside due to health concerns. An argument ensued, leading to the man and the security guard shooting at each other.
According to HPD Lieutenant Larry Crowson, one officer at the scene allegedly heard the gunfire and was able to chase the suspect down and take him into custody.

Police provided first aid to the male suspect and the security guard until they could be taken to a hospital. Houston Police said on social media that both men are in critical condition.
The woman and the dog were not harmed. Police say she stayed at the scene for questioning.
