DAYTON, OhioA man was arrested in Dayton, Ohio, on Thursday, Sept. 3, after police said he drove through a crash scene in a stolen vehicle, stole a police cruiser and crashed it into a house.

Dayton police said officers were investigating a crash at West Third Street and Gettysburg Avenue when a Toyota SUV sped through the scene. Officers pursued the SUV, which had been reported stolen.

The vehicle eventually stopped, and police said the driver got out and stole a Dayton police cruiser. He then drove away despite officers’ orders to leave the vehicle.

Dashcam footage from inside the cruiser shows it speeding through the front of a house in the 2300 block of Greenway Street.

What they’re saying:

“The suspect then attacked an officer, attempted to steal his gun, and bit the officer,” officials said. “Force was used to take the suspect into custody as he continued to actively resist arrest.”

Seven officers were injured while taking the suspect into custody. Two people inside the home were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After the arrest, officers determined the man was wanted in connection with several felony cases in nearby jurisdictions, including a homicide in Miami Township and an aggravated robbery in Moraine involving the Toyota SUV.
